Breast cancer remains a significant concern for many, but with advancements in screening technology and proactive healthcare measures, early detection has become more feasible than ever. In a recent episode of Jefferson Healthcare’s To Your Health podcast, Dr. Christine Skorberg, Medical Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, shed light on the importance of mammography and its role in breast cancer detection and prevention.
Dr. Skorberg shares recommendations from the American Cancer Society, chiefly that patients should start scheduling mammograms at the age of 40. Regular mammograms, ideally performed annually, significantly aid in the early detection of breast cancer, says Skorberg.
