Philosophy

Dr. Kjelland chose a career in medicine to help make the world a better place through healing and preventing illness, and values the lifelong learning the field demands. He practices a patient-centered style, working with patients to tailor care to their goals, needs, and preferences, and believes in the team-based nature of oncology care, involving nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other providers whenever possible. He chose Jefferson Healthcare for its combination of a tight-knit team and full spectrum of resources, including Cancer Center designation and local access to radiation oncology, imaging, and surgical services essential to quality cancer care.

Personal Interests

Dr. Kjelland is married and has two daughters. He grew up moving all around the West Coast, but calls Kent, WA his hometown. While in the Air Force, his family spent time living in Virginia, California, and Texas. His family is excited to return to the PNW to be back near family and settle down permanently. He enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and looks forward to being able to go to Seahawks, Sounders, and Mariners games again!
