Radiation Therapy
More than half of people diagnosed with cancer receive radiation therapy, and it is an essential part of many patients’ treatment plans. Jefferson Healthcare Radiation Oncology offers comprehensive care to patients with cancer and other diseases through the use of radiation treatments. Our team specializes in administering radiation treatment used to shrink or eliminate cancerous tumors.
Part of a Treatment Plan
Radiation can be part of a treatment plan that includes other therapies like chemo or surgery, but for some patients, especially those with early-state cancer, radiation alone may be enough to treat the cancer.
localized therapy
Radiation treatment is usually localized therapy, meaning it is only aimed at the part of the body that needs treatment. Our team uses a machine called a linear accelerator and the most advanced computer planning and treatment deliver systems to precisely deliver the radiation.
Team approach
Our radiation oncology specializes in using radiation to treat cancer and some benign diseases. Your care team will also include a radiation therapist, dosimetrist, radiation physicist, and radiation nurse. We work with other cancer specialists and healthcare professionals involved in your care.

Community Effort
Bringing radiation oncology to East Jefferson County is a significant achievement for East Jefferson County and marks the first time these services will be available locally. Until now, patients in need of radiation therapy were required to travel to Poulsbo, Silverdale or Seattle for treatment — and for this reason, many chose to forego care completely.
The expansion of cancer services is the result of a true community partnership. The Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, the hospital’s nonprofit arm, worked alongside local residents and donors to raise over $2 million for the purchase of the linear accelerator — the advanced technology needed to deliver targeted radiation therapy. This outpouring of support has made it possible for patients in East Jefferson County to access comprehensive oncology care, both medical and radiation, close to home.
