Biography

Upon graduation from surgical residency in 1993, Dr. Jay Lawrence moved to Port Townsend to join Dr. Jim McCarron in his surgical practice. He had his own private practice, Port Townsend Surgical Associates and in 2014, it became part of Jefferson Healthcare. Dr. Lawrence received his Board Certification from the American Board of Osteopathic Surgeons in 1994, followed by his Surgical Fellow from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in 1999. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and Washington State Medical Association. In 2006, Dr. Lawrence served as Chief of Surgery at Jefferson Healthcare. Dr. Lawrence’s professional interests include minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures, hernia and cancer surgery.

Hobbies

Dr. Lawrence is active in the community with coaching and support to local sports teams and clubs and enjoys participation and involvement with his children’s sports and extra curricular activities as well as skiing, boating and fishing.

Philosophy

Dr. Lawrence makes every attempt to take care of his patients locally.  He has long term relationships with other Jefferson Healthcare specialty providers that he trusts with his patients care.
