Clinical Interests

Dr. Herzberg earned his Bachelors and Masters of Engineering degrees in Mechanical and Bioengineering from The Cooper Union in New York City. He attended medical and graduate school in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Washington and completed an internship in surgery and residency in orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Herzberg is a general orthopaedic surgeon with special interests in joint replacement and trauma, including sports injuries, in patients of all ages. He has practice setting experience in environments ranging from rural critical access and general hospitals to regional and major academic medical centers including more than 15 years on faculty at Oregon Health & Science University and most recently with the Samaritan Orthopaedic Residency Program (Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine NW) educating patients, students, physicians and surgeons.

Dr. Herzberg prioritizes spending time with his patients to gain a full understanding of their bone and joint problems and how those problems affect their lives. He then educates his patients about the treatment alternatives, so they, as a team, can implement a plan based on sound orthopaedic and engineering principles, to speedily attain the goals of optimized function and quality of life.

Dr. Herzberg is married with 2 children, 2 cats and 2 dogs (not necessarily in that order). He enjoys fine food, music, movies, bicycling, skiing and travel; attending his daughters’ ballet performances and soccer matches; as well as following collegiate and professional football, basketball and soccer.
