Jefferson Healthcare’s Campus Modernization and Expansion Project is nearing its conclusion. As spring begins, the To Your Health podcast speaks with COO Jake Davidson to get the latest updates on the project and what’s coming next.

As the seasons shift toward spring, construction at Jefferson Healthcare’s Campus Modernization and Expansion Project is progressing steadily toward its final stages. In the latest episode of the To Your Health podcast, Jefferson Healthcare COO Jake Davidson offered an in-depth update, sharing how the project will transform healthcare access and experience for residents of East Jefferson County.
Why We’re Expanding: Keeping Care Local
The expansion project — years in the making — is designed to meet growing healthcare needs by enhancing access, convenience, and continuity of care.
“Our focus is keeping care local,” said Davidson. “This project allows us to add entirely new services like radiation oncology, neurology, pulmonology, and ENT — services patients often have to travel long distances for. That travel can be a real barrier, and we’re working to eliminate it.”
The modernization also brings expansion to existing specialties like dermatology, tripling the department’s footprint to better meet demand, Davidson says.
What Was New this Winter?
On the outside, big changes are already visible. “The brick is going up, windows are in, and the building has a whole new look,” Davidson said. “Inside, we’re seeing drywall, painting, even finishing work. It’s amazing to see it all coming together.”
Beyond aesthetics, the project brings much-needed infrastructure improvements — like 120 additional parking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations — along with a brand-new entrance called the Castle View entrance, improving traffic flow and accessibility for patients and visitors alike.
Designed for Patients and the Community
One major theme throughout the project is making the hospital easier to navigate. Davidson explained, “We focused a lot on wayfinding. With just two main corridors, it’s hard to get lost, which is a big improvement over the patchwork layout we had before.”
Another highly anticipated feature? A fully renovated cafeteria — which will once again be open to the public.
“Our cafeteria is doubling in size,” Davidson shared. “We have a phenomenal dietary team and an incredible head chef. With the new building opening in several months, we’re excited to welcome the community back.”
What’s Next?
Construction is expected to wrap up by July 18, 2025, with patients welcomed into the new space starting September 2, 2025. A public open house is scheduled for August 24, where the community will get a chance to explore the modernized campus firsthand.
“This will feel like one cohesive facility — even though it’s built from multiple buildings,” Davidson said. “It’s modern, it’s easy to navigate, and it reflects the high standard of care we’re proud to provide here in Jefferson County.”
