We’re excited to share that Jefferson Healthcare will be hosting a new quarterly Parkinson’s support group. With newly awarded grant funding from the Parkinson’s Foundation, physical therapist Becky Steffens, DPT will host the first meeting on July 11 at 3:30 pm at the Jefferson Healthcare Wellness Center.
Grant funding from the Parkinson’s Foundation totals $10,000 and will be used to fund the support group. The group will be funded from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
The purpose of the first support group meeting is to gather input from patients with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. Steffens emphasizes the importance of this initial meeting, stating, “Our goal is to provide support and education to patients with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. We want the work this group does to address their concerns and give them the targeted assistance they need.”
At the first session on July 11, attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and express what they hope to gain from a quarterly support group. Topics of interest, educational needs, and other valuable resources will be discussed to ensure that the support group is tailored to meet the unique needs of both patients and their caregivers.
All individuals with Parkinson’s disease, along with their caregivers, are invited to join the group on July 11th at the Jefferson Healthcare Wellness Center.
