Physical Therapist, Mary E. Breckel, DPT and Registered Dietician Nutritionist, Karen Mullen, will present a health education seminar on healthy habits to decrease the progression of existing or potential osteoporosis – Osteoporosis Prevention and Management. The informative presentation will focus on best practices for the prevention of the disease as well as exercise techniques to protect and strengthen the spine.
Mary graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Washington. Mary aims to be a local resource by providing services that elevate the physical wellness of all people in our community. She teaches her patients that improving physical fitness can mean many things, but that above all, it should be enjoyable and sustainable. Mary has a special interest in using exercise to promote optimal health and enjoys working with patients with chronic conditions including but not limited to osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes and chronic pain.
Karen is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and earned her master’s degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration from the Evergreen State College. She has a background in community nutrition and public health and strives to support health and wellness through good nutrition for individuals and our community. She works with patients of all ages and backgrounds and enjoys helping people eat well and love what they eat. Karen takes a person-centered approach to nutrition counseling and the many ways of eating which support health, disease prevention, and chronic disease management
Following the presentation, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and speak directly with Breckel and Mullen.
