Open enrollment season is underway, so you might be considering changes to your health insurance. With advertisements flooding your mailbox and screens with enticing offers like gift cards or cash rewards, the idea of switching plans can be tempting. But before you make any decisions, it’s important to understand what those changes could mean for your healthcare.

Here’s why: many of the insurance plans advertised in East Jefferson County may not cover care at Jefferson Healthcare. Switching plans could mean that you might have to travel to Silverdale or Whidbey Island to get care that’s covered by your insurance. Olympic Area Agency on Aging (03A) volunteers offer free one-on-one support through Jefferson County’s local State Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) program.
