Jefferson Healthcare is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Joseph Meyerson, Surgeon who will begin his practice on October 14, 2019, in the Orthopedic Clinic at 834 Sheridan Street, Port Townsend.
As a board eligible plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in hand and wrist surgery, Dr. Meyerson chose Jefferson County to begin his practice because of the difference he can make in a rural community. “Plastic surgery is often represented in pop culture and the media as synonymous with cosmetic surgery”, said Dr. Meyerson. “In fact, plastic and reconstructive surgery is an immensely broad field that encompasses surgery from head to toe. The cases in a small community are no different than in other places like Seattle, whether its hand and wrist surgery, breast and skin cancer reconstruction, wound care or cosmetic procedures there is a need for the care no matter where the patient lives.”
Over the past ten years Dr. Meyerson completed all of his medical and plastic surgery training in Columbus, Ohio as part of the Ohio State University. He then spent an additional year completing a fellowship in Hand and Wrist Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine as part of the Orthopedic Surgery Department. His expertise in the hand and wrist will complement the already established practice created by Drs. Naumann and Eissmann.
Additionally, Dr. Meyerson will work closely with the Oncology and Wound Clinic to provide plastic and reconstructive services for patients with acute and chronic wound issues, skin cancer or breast cancer reconstruction. He is excited to have a lasting im
pact in a small community and enhance the growing network of medical professionals at Jefferson Healthcare. “My hope is that establishing a plastic surgery presence in Jefferson County will give patients the opportunity to remain local for care pertaining to the surgeries I offer,” says Dr. Meyerson.
