Jefferson Healthcare Medical Assistant Training Program

May 23, 2023 – Jefferson Healthcare is excited to open enrollment for another cohort to the Medical Assistant Apprentice Program, a comprehensive 12-15 month on-the-job training program that offers both online and paid hands-on training at Jefferson Healthcare.

The Medical Assistant Apprentice Program is designed to provide aspiring medical assistants with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to excel in the healthcare industry. The program combines online coursework with on-site clinical training and allows participants to gain real-world experience while they learn.

Selected applicants work alongside experienced medical assistants, nurses, and healthcare professionals to learn in real life scenarios.  Each apprentice will have a coach to guide them through the program and prepare the apprentice to sit for the MA-C certification exam at the end of the program.  The application deadline is Friday, June 9 and the training program will begin with a state-wide cohort kick-off event on Friday, July 14, 2023.

We are proud to offer this program again this quarter and prepare individuals who want to begin or further their career in healthcare.  The program offers a unique blend of online and hands-on training, which gives the apprentices a well-rounded education and the practical experience they need to succeed in the healthcare industry. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will have the opportunity to take the Certified Medical Assistant exam, which is a nationally recognized certification that can help further their career in the healthcare industry.

No experience is necessary for applicants 18 and older with a high school diploma or equivalent by July 14 and eligible to work in the US.  Apprentices will be interviewed for their willingness to learn, ability to work well with others, and customer service skills.  Jefferson Healthcare will pay the $3750 tuition costs through Return in Service in exchange for staying in the MA-C role for two years.  The paid position will be 40 hours a week and eligible for benefits.  The deadline to apply through the online job portal on the Jefferson Healthcare website is Friday, June 9th.

Medical Assistants perform a variety of tasks, from greeting patients to recording vital signs and preparing samples for lab tests.  They can be instrumental in the seamless operations of a medical clinic.  Jefferson Healthcare utilizes Medical Assistants in Primary Care as well as specialty clinics like Sleep Medicine, Dermatology and Orthopedics.
