Tuesday, December 20, 2022 – The Jefferson Healthcare Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce a donation in the amount of $12,345 to Jefferson Healthcare. Funds will be used by Jefferson Healthcare to purchase much-needed medical equipment for Respiratory Therapy and Bio-Medical test equipment.
The Gift Shop closed at the beginning of the pandemic due to restrictions in the hospital visitation policy. Rosemary and fellow board members, Barbara Clarberg and Brenda Buck, officially closed the shop this past October with ‘a hospital employee sale’. “We had hoped to make the final check to the hospital as much as possible but had only September to work with and one extra week ending October 7th. The hospital employees were wonderful with daily sales much better than expected. It was so very good to have the response that we had after being closed for two and a half years due to the pandemic. I will truly miss being part of the gift shop,” said Rosemary Nielsen, President of the Hospital Auxiliary.
The Jefferson Healthcare Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop closed after over 45 years of Auxiliary fundraising activity for the hospital. Since 1976, the Auxiliary generated nearly $1 million in funds through its various activities. The Gift Shop was managed and operated solely by the volunteer staff and the Auxiliary Board. The shop had a wide selection of cards, gifts, jewelry, home décor, gifts, and candy. In 2018, Port Townsend Leader Readers voted the Gift Shop “Best Jewelry” selection. Historically, proceeds from shop sales went to Jefferson Healthcare to fund equipment, supplies, and community scholarships.
