Jefferson Healthcare CEO Mike Glenn was recently appointed to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board 9. Glenn will serve in this position through the end of 2027.

Mike Glenn, Chief Executive Officer of Jefferson Healthcare, has been appointed to serve as an at-large delegate on the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board 9.

The AHA is the national nonprofit organization representing and serving hospitals, health care systems, and their patients and communities. Its regional policy boards are part of the organization’s formal governance structure and play a key role in shaping national health policy by providing regional perspective and recommendations. Regional policy boards meet three times annually.

The AHA Board of Trustees appointed Glenn to a two-year term, which runs through December 31, 2027.

“I am honored to serve on the Region 9 Policy Board for the American Hospital Association,” Glenn said. “Sitting at this table with other regional hospital leaders exposes me to valuable insight on what other communities are doing to stay financially viable and improve care in their communities.”

“The AHA is excited to have Mike Glenn back on RPB 9, where he previously served as a state delegate,” said Sean Barry, Regional Executive at AHA. Mike is an important voice for independent public hospital districts and rural health more broadly. He also brings valuable experience as a leading hospital voice in Washington state.”

Regional Policy Board 9 includes hospital and health system leaders from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington State, and the Pacific islands of American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) and other state and regional associations hold ex officio seats on the board.

Glenn joined Jefferson County Public Hospital District No. 2 as chief executive officer in 2010. Previously, he served as CEO of Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Wash., from 1999 to 2006. He also spent more than two years as senior vice president of business development and product line management at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash., and served as chief operating officer at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash. Glenn was board chair of the Washington State Hospital Association from October 2023 to October 2024.

The current chair of AHA Regional Policy Board 9 is Mason Van Houweling, CEO of University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, who also serves on the AHA Board of Trustees.
