Jefferson Healthcare construction site.Autumn is coming to a close, and Jefferson Healthcare continues to make progress on its Campus Modernization and Expansion Project.

December 19, 2024

Jefferson Healthcare’s Campus Modernization and Expansion Project is making great strides, and the excitement around the expansion of services continues to grow. In a recent episode of the To Your Health podcast, Jefferson Healthcare COO Jake Davidson shared the latest updates, offering a glimpse into the future of healthcare for the communities we serve.

Recent Progress

Construction is moving along smoothly, with significant milestones already achieved. “We recently opened up about 55 new parking spots,” Davidson said. “That was a great little bonus during some tough phases.” These parking spots are primarily for staff, alleviating some of the logistical challenges faced during the project.

While much of the current work is happening inside the building, external changes are on the horizon. Soon, you’ll notice windows being installed, brickwork coming together, and the transformation of parking areas in front of the new facility.

The heart of this project is about enhancing care for the community. Davidson explained, “Three years ago, we decided that we had a building that was built in 1965 that was just not up to code any longer. So, we decided to demolish it and build a brand-new building, about 56,000 square feet, focused on adding new services for the community.”

These new services will include Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), Neurology, Pulmonology, and Radiation Oncology. “We’ll be the first critical access hospital in the state to offer Radiation Oncology,” Davidson said. “During their toughest time, patients won’t have to travel an hour or two for a five-minute appointment.”

Looking Ahead

The project is on track to be completed by mid-2025. Once operational, patients will not only benefit from expanded services but also a more intuitive hospital design. Davidson noted, “We’ve focused on making the hospital as wayfinding-positive as possible… We’ve put a lot of effort into making it simple to find where you’re going.”
