Community Visioning & Information Session for Early Learning & Family Support Center

October 3, 2022 – Jefferson Healthcare, Port Townsend School District, and the Olympic Peninsula YMCA will host a visioning and information session about the new Early Learning and Family Support Center proposed to be built on the Port Townsend High School Campus. The information session will give the community a chance to learn more about the proposal and provide opportunities for participants to contribute to concept and design ideas in this early phase of development.  Members of the community are invited to attend the session which will be held on October 12th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County YMCA/Mountain View – 1625 Blaine Street. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Early Learning and Family Support Center is a joint community effort to address a severe childcare shortage in Jefferson County.  The proposed center would be owned and operated by Olympic Peninsula YMCA and could accommodate up to 40 children aged 6 months to 5 years.  The proposed center would host six classrooms, a community meeting space, a commercial kitchen, and a playground.  Funding sources will include Jefferson County, federal appropriations as well as grants
