Local students interested in careers in healthcare will have an opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience at the Healthcare Career Academy, July 15 to July 19.

Are you a high school student passionate about healthcare and looking for an exciting summer opportunity? Jefferson Healthcare, in partnership with Peninsula College, local public school districts, and Career Connect WA, is thrilled to present the Healthcare Career Academy from July 15 to July 19. This immersive and free program is designed for incoming 10th to 12th graders from the Port Townsend, Chimacum, and Quilcene School Districts.
By joining the Healthcare Career Academy, you’ll gain many valuable skills and insights on what healthcare careers are really like. For example:
1. Hands-On Learning Experience: Over five days, you’ll gain practical knowledge and skills that are essential in the healthcare field. From nursing simulations to first aid certification, every day will be packed with engaging activities.
2. Professional Exposure: Tour Jefferson Healthcare and East Jefferson Fire & Rescue to see firsthand what a career in healthcare looks like. These job site visits will provide valuable insights and networking opportunities.
3. Comprehensive Curriculum: The program is designed to cover a broad range of healthcare topics, ensuring you get a well-rounded introduction to the field.

Day 2, July 16: Nursing Lab Simulations
Day 3, July 17: Medical Procedures
Day 4, July 18: First Aid and CPR Certification
Day 5, July 19: Jobsite Tours
