Board Certifications: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
Biography: During her thirty-five plus years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Merrily Mount has served on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean with the U.S. Air Force and in Spokane, Washington with the U.S. Public Health Service, as well as in communities across the nation.
She responded to the plea of the people of South Jefferson County in Quilcene, Washington where in 1995 she established the region’s first primary care clinic under the umbrella of Jefferson Healthcare. She serves as an advocate for every person who enters the South County Medical Clinic, always attending to those medically underserved, indigent and in need.
Merrily received Sigma Theta Tau’s Norma Gigliotti Award for outstanding research into the psychosocial implications of urinary incontinence, was recognized for cultivating community services in Spokane and all of Washington State by the President’s Task Force on Private Sector Initiatives, and nominated for the Kaiser Aluminum’s “One Person Can Make a Difference” award for her contributions to the indigent population of Spokane County. The Department of Health and Human Services also bestowed their Certificate of Merit for her selfless donations of personal time to promoting primary care to urban indigent citizens.
Merrily’s chief interests include assisting women through menopause and men through andropause while aging gracefully and the role of hormone replacement therapy, researching Parkinson’s Disease, Breast Cancer Prevention and the role of Vitamin D3 deficiency in Americans' overall health and disease prevention. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
When she can find a moment for herself, Merrily enjoys spending time with her family, reading, music, landscape design and installation – all this while expressing her deep commitment to minimizing her earthly carbon footprint.
